Within the John Carroll chapter, it is often said that Beta is an extension of our own family. Our values as gentlemen dictate that we have a care and compassion for our fraternity brothers just as we do our parents, grandparents, and siblings. We take seriously our family relations, and as such bring the full Beta extended family together at several points in the year. Two of our flagship annual events are the Parents & Family BBQ and our Mothers' Tea. Both are often cited by parents as an enjoyable and memorable time with their sons as they get a small glimpse into our brotherhood.
Many parents have a sense of fear when their sons begin exploring fraternity life. This is a common and understandable emotion, and one that was initially felt by those who are now our most vocal parent supporters. However, in their time as Beta Parents, they have found that Beta Theta Pi is not a stereotypical fraternity. Rather, this is an organization that is life-giving in the best of ways. We encourage the parents of any prospective new member to review the testimonials of other parents, who share their thoughts and feelings as their sons joined the Men of Principle. |
